July 17, 2010: Webinar for Section 3 - How does it Work and What's New? (Round II)
This second NHLP Section 3 webinar, presented on July 7, 2010, provides information on the Fort Lauderdale Housing Authority’s implementation of Section 3 and its “Step Up” program and the role of project labor agreements in advancing Section 3-based targeted hiring efforts in construction, as well as a discussion of filing a HUD complaint for noncompliance with Section 3 and the voluntary compliance agreement between the City of St. Paul and HUD. Presenters included Scott Strawbridge from the Fort Lauderdale PHA, Benjamin Beach from the Community Benefits Law Center, and NHLP Senior Staff Attorney Catherine Bishop.

This webinar, held on June 29, 2010, provides an overview of HUD’s Section 3 obligations and its current efforts to increase economic opportunities for Section 3 residents and businesses, as well as a presentation regarding San Francisco’s program to implement Section 3 and a related local “first source” ordinance. Presenters included Staci Gilliam Hampton from HUD and Ken Nim and Ronnie Rhoe from the City of San Francisco. NHLP Senior Staff Attorney Catherine Bishop moderated the webinar.
