Volunteering Opportunities at NHLP

Volunteering Opportunities at NHLP

National Housing Law Project (NHLP), a renowned public interest law firm, seeks professional and non-professional level volunteers for various functions. NHLP is a 45-year old public interest law firm and home to the country’s legal experts on HUD’s assisted housing programs. Recognized in 2007 as one of seven organizations worldwide by the John D. And Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation as a Creative and Effective Institution, your time as an NHLP volunteer will expose you to the workings of a highly-successful nonprofit, which has positively impacted the housing rights of hundreds of thousands of our nation’s low-income families and individuals.

In our office, we are seeking volunteer help in a wide variety of clerical and support functions including data entry, processing of mailings, scanning and file organization, and website support. As an office support volunteer at NHLP, you will help drive the operations of a highly-successful mission-driven organization.

For our legal team, we are seeking pro-bono legal professionals, new attorneys and law school graduates who want to hone their legal skills and to gain an important reference from a highly-regarded institution, to help land a permanent position. As a volunteer attorney, you will assist the nation's experts in federal housing law and will gain experience in legal research, writing, policy advocacy, and litigation support.

Opportunities are open-ended and we offer enormous flexibility in the level of commitment and schedule.
