National Housing Law Project Applauds New Rent Cap For Low-Income Housing Tax Credit Program
WASHINGTON D.C.— The National Housing Law Project today released the following statement by executive director Shamus Roller in response to the White House’s recent announcement of a 10% rent cap on units in the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program:
“This announcement signals the Biden administration’s interest in taking federal action to protect tenants and keep housing affordable. The federal government invests billions of dollars each year into affordable housing through the low income housing tax credit. Limiting rent increases in those properties is a common sense way to protect federal investments and to keep the lowest income families, disabled tenants, and seniors in their homes.”
