May 8, 2014: Subsidized Housing Basics, Part 4: Housing Opportunities for Persons with Aids (HOPWA) and McKinney-Vento Homelessness Programs
This training is the fourth in a series of webinars designed to assist domestic violence advocates and transitional housing programs in navigating the federally subsidized housing programs that are covered by the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2013. This webinar will discuss the major features of federal housing for the homeless and Housing Opportunities for Persons with Aids (HOPWA), which are funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act is the primary federal funding for homelessness services across the nation. McKinney-Vento funds also support domestic violence programs that provide transitional housing and emergency shelter to survivors of domestic violence. HOPWA is the only federal program dedicated to the housing needs of people living with HIV/AIDS.
